About these NPCs: These stats appear in Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition rules format. They are arranged from 1st level through 10th and serve as quick templates for your reference.

Samurai are the elite warriors of prrex bushido. They have been trained since birth for their positions as samurai. Other warriors of non-noble birth can attain samurai status through their deeds, but the characters listed here are of the samurai class from 1st level. For an example of elevation to samurai, see the fighter progression to Master Samurai prestige class.

These samurai are quick to perceive insults and challenges and prepared to duel to defend their honor. They have received extensive training in the art of iajitsu and assessing the fighting skill of opponents before combat begins. Other samurai are masters of battle, with less preparation for iajitsu duels.

Asterisks (*) show where total skill bonuses are adjusted to account for armor check penalties. Prrex samurai almost never wear the great armor (o-yoroi) because it restricts their maximum dexterity—a racial advantage of the prrexi. Instead, they use the best medium armor available and learn the two weapon fighting style to take advantage of their relative speed and agility.
