Back to Sekkady Game Log for 2164

1 Deluge 2165 - New Year
Bram, Rik, Kareena, and Copper fix up their Arkadia mansion and get things organized at the "Time Castle" where Graf Speergen was defeated.

17 Deluge 2165 - Trade Road to Lebensbrüke Opened
The greatest goblin threat to travel through the Tablelands of Sekkady has been removed and a new trade road offers more rapid access to Lebensbrüke through Chan Zhou. Deep snow is cleared regularly and the road is patrolled from Chan Zhou through Fort Schiffgen to Arkadia. This is expected to increase relations and trade between Sekkady and Lebensbrüke, following the Baron's plan for economic expansion.

26 Mist 2165 - Prrani Empire Establishes Trade with Sekkady
The prrexi of two nations have been very impressed with Sekkady. The Prrani ambassador and Baron Sekkady agreed to make the city of Arkadia a trade port for Prrani goods. This is expected to greatly increase the market for Sekkadian alpaca and raw materials. Rumors abound that Sekkady will become a Prreshtuwan ally in its campaign to pacify the occupied United Draconic Patriarchies. If this were the case, the dragons of the South would sure turn an unfavorable eye on the upstart nation to their north.

8 Greening 2165 - Sekkady Establishes Regular Trade with the Prreshtuwan Federation
Working with the other major prrexi nation, agents of Baron Sekkady work out a trade agreement with the Prreshtuwan Federation. Several of Baron Sekkady's Scouts participated last year in a technical training program that fostered understanding and good will between the Barony and the Federation. This has grown into a strong trade relationship. The Prreshtuwan Federation trade mission is fully committed to commerce with Sekkady and has established a regular port of call in Arkadia for several of its corporations. Advanced goods and services have become available to wealthy citizens and commoners, alike.

12 Greening 2165 - Religious Cult Defeated
Parsey, Milo, and Teldon defeat the cult of wererats and demented cultists fomenting discord in Veilosky The cult was disrupting the annual Fair in order to create fear and uncertainty. The heroes traced the wererat problem to a dimensionally twisted shop in Veilosky's wealthy district where they found a mad half-elven seer, called "The Blessed," who was masterminding the plot. She was controlled by some entity from beyond that she called "The Speaker in Dreams." The mayor throws a party for the adventurers to conclude the Fair.

25 Greening 2165 - Small Heroes Slain and Subjected to Experiments
The small heroes encountered kzinti in their search for a cache of weapons that would help them defeat the illithids behind The Blessed's plot. The enhanced kzinti slew the entire party. The heroes woke up on operating tables in a lab, with strange enchanted tattoos and new arcane powers. The kzinlord priest, K'mer-Pashti, had used the resources of the old Brotherhood of Thought laboratory to experiment on them. He had implanted experimental spellware to see if it would work on humanoids. K'mer-Pashti reassured the heroes of his relatively benign intentions and worked to convince them of his trustworthy nature. After all, it was he who had raised them from death. The heroes work to get used to the new abilities powered by the malevolently glowing tattoos.

20 Growing 2165 - Heroes Open the Brotherhood of Thought Vault
Parsey, Milo, and Teldon work their way through ductwork and into a guarded vault in the old laboratory. They defeat the will-o-wisps and traps and find magic designed for use against the illithids. K'mer-Pashti thanks them and helps them return to Veilosky to complete their mission. On the way, they meet a bronze dragon, Cybilenemarea, who finds their quest worthwhile and interesting. She decides to come along and help.

5 Heat 2165 - Small Heroes Awarded Silver Star, Silver Shield for Defeat of Mind Flayers
Parsey the gnome rogue, Milo the halfling conjurer, and Teldon Thornweather the halfling knight of the white mantle received awards for their success against the mind flayers. The heroes uncovered a nest of mind flayers that had been working to control the mayor and key citizens of Veilosky. For the service they performed in uncovering and defeating the mind flayers' plans, Baron Andaar Sekkady awarded the elite heroes with the Silver Star and the Silver Shield in Arkadia. The Silver Star was presented for bravery and victory in combat against great odds. The Silver Shield was presented for the conspicuous service rendered to Veilosky, its citizens, and the Barony.

2 Glow 2165 - A "Night of Bloodshed" as Ishan Priests are Murdered
All but five of the 128 Ishan priests in Arkadia were murdered overnight. In one terrifying strike, the church is in a shambles. Druids claim no knowledge of the attacks and provided some assistance to the Ishan followers and families. Stories from other lands suggest that these were not isolated attacks, but part of a worldwide plot against the Ishan faith. Many priests were slain across Lebensbruke, Landers, and other nations, as well. The famed White Hand of Lebensbruke is on the case.

15 Glow 2165 - Tablelands Goblins not involved in Ishan Killings
Resourceful work of the Sekkadian Scouts has revealed that the goblins of the Tablelands, treacherous and impious as they may be, are not implicated in the slayings of Ishan priests. The Baron's troops continue to monitor and investigate the situation. Through miracles performed by surviving high priests, many of the slain have been restored to life, but are weakened. It is not known if the assassins will strike again.

20 Glow 2165 - Kenku Attack Thwarted
The garrison at Fort Calador defeated a gathering of forest kenku several days ago. The dirty birds were constructing some sort of great wooden horse with wheels. Patrols discovered the construction site and a battle ensued when the soldiers were attacked. Military action drove away the kenku and destroyed the threatening object.

23 Glow 2165 - Earthquakes shake Sekkady
Earthquakes gave everyone an early awakening this morning. There were five minor shakings that did little damage beyond alarming citizens. The quakes were reported to be especially strong in the western Tablelands region near Fort Petrisohn.

28 Glow 2165 - Prreshtuwan Companies like Sekkadian Copper
Two Prreshtuwan companies have placed large orders for copper from Sekkady. The foreigners are financing smelting mills that will employ Sekkadian workers in Shorum, Leilani, and Beltraan. These mills reportedly make use of the latest in efficient equipment to quickly process metal from copper ore of any grade. This arrangement is seen as very beneficial for the barony.

31 Glow 2165 - Gurds Threatening War
Once again, the barbaric Gurdish tribes are preparing for war with Sekkady. They hate our prosperity and civilized ways and would like nothing more than to turn us all back into skin-clad savages. The ruler of the tribes, Kal-then Khan, has vowed that the Kyriaborian plains will be untrammeled by walls of stone or wood. This pretender to majesty also bears special hatred for the Kraanichers, despite the advances in peace between races over the past decades. The Baron has placed his troops on alert and reinforced the western border to blunt the anticipated Gurdish attack.

5 Colors 2165 - Veilosky Destroyed in Surprise Attack!
The thriving border town of Veilosky was crushed into rubble by three enormous elemental colossus constructs animated by the High Circle druids of the Gurds. The colossi just rose up out of the ground early in the morning, disgorged dozens of the best Gurdish warriors, and proceeded to smash the Sekkadian army barracks and everything else in Veilosky. Each great colossus was some twelve stories tall and made of elemental earth and stone. The colossi proved invulnerable to all types of weapons and spells as they stomped and crushed the buildings of the town. While the colossi laid waste to Veilosky, the Gurdish warriors rode down and slew surviving Sekkadian troops. The Gurds rounded up hundreds of civilian prisoners and marched them out across the river into Gurdish territory. The earthen colossi walked east and south after destroying the town. They destroyed an additional sixteen villages before crumbling to huge piles of earth, presumably as the spell animating them ended.

5 Colors 2165 - Fort Kyrial and Fort Alliance Destroyed
In later news, it was discovered that an additional earthen colossus appeared at the Sekkadian Fort Kyrial and another at Fort Alliance. The colossi made short work of those baronial strongholds and many villages in southwest Sekkady. As in Veilosky, survivors and civilians were herded west onto the plains. Prreshtuwan aerial fighters attacked the colossi but were unable to damage them. The colossi eventually crumbled, but their work was already long finished by then.

6 Colors 2165 - All Sekkadian Units Mobilized for War
Tens of thousands of Gurdish barbarians have poured across the border into Sekkady. Baron Andaar Sekkady has mobilized all troops for war against the Gurds. This includes the many elite agents and special adventuring teams at the Baron's disposal. Primary targets are Gurdish leaders and spellcasters. The Gurdish tactics and magical strength are proving surprisingly difficult to overcome, however. The barbarians appear to be prepared for many of the tricks and tactics that the Sekkadian army has employed.

8 Colors 2165 - Fort Grake Surrounded; Petrisohn, Shaker, and Garsus Destroyed
Thousands of Gurds have pillaged farms and villages throughout the barony as far east as Fort Calador and as far north as the Tablelands. The central stronghold, Fort Grake, has been surrounded and cut off from all sides. Gurdish spellcasters even managed to destroy two Prreshtuwan aerial fighter craft attempting to aid the Fort Grake garrison. Forts Petrisohn, Shaker, and Garsus have been destroyed by the Gurds. Everywhere, civilians and war prisoners have been sent west to Gurdish territory.

9 Colors 2165 - Sekkadian Scouts Recruited for Special Mission
Rik, Copper, and Bram were requested by name for a special mission by an officer of the White Hand. The White Hand is the branch of Lebensbruke law enforcement charged with investigating supernatural crimes and incidents. Colonel Anderian Haansa and Lady Baroness Anika Voorhess spoke with the Commander of the Sekkadian Scouts, Commander Vaansa Ryswarden, and persuaded her to detach the trio to them for a special undertaking of interest to the Barony. Colonel Haansa authorized his cohorts to use their resources to support the Sekkadian war effort, in return.

11 Colors 2165 - Ustgaard Cut Off as Gurds Raid Everywhere
Gurdish warriors are now raiding throughout the Barony in bands of one hundred riders or more. They have avoided decisive engagement with superior numbers of Sekkadian troops and are attempting to find and crush elite Sekkadian agents. The Drachenmeer port town of Ustgaard has been cut off by land from the rest of Sekkady. Meanwhile, they pillage herds, farms, and villages, sending their captives and spoils west. This appears to be part of a strategy to depopulate the barony.

11 Colors 2165 - From the Heart of Ruun-Khazai
A larger party consisting of Anika, Anderian, Kadaji, Copper, Rik, and Bram wins through the astral storm to the heart of the githyanki fortress known as Ruun-Khazai. They defeat the lich queen's forces and parlay successfully with the master of the castle. They learn more about the lich queen and her weaknesses, then withdraw to Voyreem to plan.

13 Colors 2165 - Shorum Contested by Gurds
Nearly twenty thousand Gurdish warriors are in the vicinity of the town of Shorum as Sekkadian troops attempt to hold the invaders at bay. The Baron has committed his forces and is personally leading the army with his close advisors in support. Kal-then Khan is at the head of the barbarian army. The two giants are expected to clash soon as their troops work into position.

19 Colors 2165 - Baron Sekkady Falls in Battle
Baron Andaar Sekkady fell in battle against the Gurdish cavalry of Kal-then Khan yesterday in the struggle for the town of Shorum. The Sekkadian army had been hard pressed by the Gurds' mounted archery tactics for most of a week. The Baron had hoped to take advantage of the Gurdish druids' Warmwane observances to push the invaders from the Shorum area, but this did not seem to have hindered the Gurdish army. Kal-then Khan himself met the Baron in combat. After many charges and counters, the Khan felled Baron Sekkady. Sekkadian General Hannah Lake was also killed by Gurdish fire magic. Sekkadian forces suffered heavy casualties and were forced to withdraw from the field. Most civilians have already withdrawn from Shorum to Beltran.

19 Colors 2165 - Heroes Destroy the Githyanki Lich Queen
The PCs succeed in their quest to destroy the lich queen before she can become a goddess. With the assistance of Zetch'r'r, a leading warlord, they penetrate Vlaakith's castle and slay her and her minions. They found and destroyed her phylactery, then sought out the Master Orb of Dragonkind. Victorious, they returned to Voyreem.

20 Colors 2165 - Shorum Beseiged
The Sekkadian army has taken to its defensive works at the town of Shorum, hoping to outlast the Gurdish invaders until reinforcements can arrive. The farmers' fields around Shorum have already been pillaged and most civilians have fled the town under the protection of the Sekkadian army. General Keltenscher of Lebensbrüke said in an interview that he expects the Sekkadian troops to be supplied by air with no difficulty. "Sekkady has the advantage in this matter, of course. The Gurds have to spend valuable time living off the land and what spoils they can gain. Meanwhile, the Baron's forces can be supplied and refreshed by Prreshtuwan allies. The Khan has won control of the central plains, but the result of the campaign is still undecided."

21 Colors 2165 - Anika and Anderian Persuade Uvikfarnis to Relocate
The heroes gain an audience with the great dragon and use the Master Orb of Dragonkind to convince her to give up the futile fight against the Prreshtuwan prrexi and emigrate to the Ishan Patriarchy, instead. The dragon agrees with the Kraanicher PCs' suggestions and immediately begins preparations. She abandons (for now) thoughts of winning over the Temple of Xauxes and the pool of radiance.

24 Colors 2165 - Toxic Druid Unmasked and Captured in Sekkady
It takes a powerful threat to stir Lebensbrüke's most powerful heroes from their daily routines, so it must have been a danger beyond mortal ken to rally Sir Leo, General Keltenscher, and even the Queen herself to a single task. As a result of work done by the White Hand and the 3rd Battalion of the 6th Ranger Regiment, a terrible treachery was discovered. The mighty druid, Eagle Brother, advisor and mentor to the great Gurdish warlord Kal-then Khan, was revealed to be a devotee of foul and corrupt toxic magic beyond the cycle of nature. Reports suggest that Eagle Brother, long a respected figure to the Gurds, had manipulated Kal-then Khan's mind toward his own brand of revenge against Kraanichers for more than twenty-five years. This treachery culminated in a plot to assassinate Queen Anissette and Sir Drake during diplomatic talks with the Khan. To our great fortune (and with no great surprise), this plot was uncovered and the nest of vipers unraveled with no harm to our monarchs. The corrupt druid was subdued and brought to a special hospital in Voyreem to be imprisoned until he can be cured of his insanity.

26 Colors 2165 - Ustgaard Falls to Barbarian Elemental Colossus
The Sekkadian port town of Ustgaard fell to the Gurdish raiders after an early morning assault by another elemental colossus. The colossus destroyed the town walls and defensive works, allowing the Gurdish horsemen to enter the town. Hundreds of refugees sailed to Port Teufel, the last major Drachenmeer port Sekkady holds. Fort Grake remains in control of the Sekkadian army in the central hills of the barony, but it is surrounded by large bands of veteran raiders.

26 Colors 2165 - Fort Grake Falls to Dragons
In a development quite unexpected by either side in the Sekkadian War, two enormous red dragons attacked and captured Fort Grake. They paid little attention to the Gurdish tribespeople except to slay those who approached too near the fort. The Sekkadian army at Fort Grake is presumed entirely lost or enslaved. As yet, the dragons have issued no ransom or surrender demands.

31 Colors 2165 - Sekkadian Scouts Save Prisoners
Back on the job, Copper, Rik, and Bram infiltrate the ruins of Aelizon and discover prison camps full of Sekkadian citizens awaiting their fates. Several thousand people are being held by the Gurds in a set of prison camps. Each day, hundreds are taken to a place where a group of beholders charms them and brainwashes them into becoming Gurdish tribesmembers. The PCs defeat the beholders, an evil war-torn fey, and a demon lord who was frustrated at their meddling. Coordinating support from Arkadia and the Prreshtuwan allies, the Scouts managed to rescue more than 8,000 people.

32 Colors 2165 - Tide Turns Against Gurds
The actions of the Sekkadian Scouts and elite forces have completely disrupted the Gurdish rear and northern operations. Thousands of Gurdish warriors have been killed, wounded, or routed from battle by small bands of elite troops. Kal-then Khan is withdrawing his people from Sekkady.

6 Harvest 2165 - Gurds Driven from Sekkady
The Gurdish barbarians have been driven out of Sekkady. While this is a great victory for the Barony, it rings hollow. There are still thousands of Sekkadians missing and presumed inducted into the Gurdish tribes. Many villages and towns have been completely destroyed and burned to the ground. The Baron is still dead, even though word has been spread that he is being restored swiftly and effectively to life through psionic methods. The economy of the Barony is in shambles and fields have been stripped of the crops and livestock needed to see the citizens through the winter. Much more is yet to be done.
