Warehouse Pranks – Whispers of the Dragon

Excerpt from Chapter 1 of "Whispers of the Dragon" “Maxmillian Rottweiler! You big miscreant! Get back here and face your fate!” Max laughed and ducked behind the shipping crates. Toryo snickered and punched his beefy arm. “You’re just too darn recognizable, Max! And slow, too! Don’t let them catch us! Sir James will be beside [...]

The Golden Goshawk – Whispers of the Dragon

Excerpt from Chapter 10 of "Whispers of the Dragon" The Golden Goshawk was a classic Landish trade road inn. It was large, with encompassing, defensible walls big enough to hold all the people, animals, and wagons of two or three merchant trains at once. Rooms inside the main building offered a comfortable night’s rest, with [...]

Review: The Beechwood Flute

What can I be when the world won't let me be what I want? "The Beechwood Flute" is a must-read for thoughtful fantasy lovers. Written by Pendred Noyce, the setting is rich, the characters realistic and engaging, and the challenges the protagonist, Kiran, faces are all too real. The reader gets caught up immediately in [...]

Author’s Comments on The Tranquility Chip

The Tranquility Chip by Steve Semler My rating: Irrelevant... I'm the author! "The Tranquility Chip" story was suggested by developments in neuroscience and my consulting and HR work. A good chunk of what I do with adult learning and organizational effectiveness involves finding ways to help people overcome resistance or fear of change. That got [...]

To Remember the Fallen (Memorial Day 2017)

Hazy, shifting Underhill sunlight filtered down through the trees around the Court of Stars. The Faerie Queen's gardens were in full bloom. A riot of color somehow made a grand harmony as each flower and leaf contributed its own brush stroke by merely existing. On this May morning, Gayle and Sheena walked with the Queen. [...]
